My Story

I believe that healing, like a river, is rarely a straight line — it bends, slows, and gathers strength over time. My path into this work grew from a deep respect for human resilience and the quiet courage it takes to ask for help. I created a practice where clients feel genuinely seen, safe, and supported.

My Therapeutic Approach

I meet each person as a whole human being — mind, body, and story. Blending evidence-based modalities with warmth and collaboration, I tailor our work to your goals. Sessions are grounded, compassionate, and paced to honor your nervous system, never rushed and never one-size-fits-all.

Education & Credentials

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Arizona. Trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT, and somatic approaches, with ongoing continuing education in trauma-informed and nature-based care.

Professional Experience

For more than a decade, I've had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, adults, and families as they navigate life's challenges. My experience spans residential treatment, outpatient therapy, schools, clinical leadership, and supervising clinicians, giving me a broad perspective on the many paths healing can take. I believe growth doesn't happen by forcing change—it happens when people feel safe, understood, and supported as they move forward at their own pace. Drawing from evidence-based approaches and a deep appreciation for the healing found in both nature and human connection, I strive to create a space where clients can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and discover lasting resilience. Whether we're working through trauma, strengthening relationships, or navigating life's transitions, my goal is to help each person find a path that feels authentic, hopeful, and sustainable.

Why I Started Salt River Counseling

The Salt River symbolizes movement, resilience, and hope — the very things I want every client to reclaim. I founded Salt River Counseling to offer a calm, personal, and accessible space for Arizonans to heal, grow, and flow forward at their own pace.

Telehealth in Idaho, Arizona & Utah — in person in Little Rock, Arkansas

Meet Candice

Hi, I'm Candice. I currently provide telehealth for the states of Idaho, Arizona, and Utah, and in person for the state of Arkansas if you're in the Little Rock area. Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming, but I'm here to make the process easier. I'm passionate about guiding individuals on their path to healing and self-discovery, offering a supportive and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings.

My Therapeutic Approach

My approach often includes outdoor or hands-on activities, like creating something meaningful while we explore your concerns together. Using techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), sand tray, play therapy, and trauma-informed care, I focus on helping children and teenagers (ages 10-19 years old) with ADHD, anxiety, or depression.

Who I Work With

I also welcome adults who are open to exploring therapy in creative, engaging ways. I'm committed to tailoring our work to your unique needs. Let's begin your mental health journey together.

Licensed Master Social Worker

Walk & Talk in person and virtual sessions throughout Arizona

My Story

Hi, I'm Sarah. I believe healing begins with connection—to ourselves, to others, and to the world around us. My path into therapy was shaped by a passion for helping people discover their strengths and create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences with curiosity, self-compassion, and hope.

My Therapeutic Approach

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth when they feel safe enough to explore their story. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client's unique needs and goals. Drawing from evidence-based practices, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing to help clients navigate life's challenges while building resilience, self-awareness, and lasting change.

Education & Credentials

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Arizona. I earned my Master of Social Work from Arizona State University and hold a bachelor's degree in Public Health Promotion with a minor in Business. I'm trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and ACT, with continued education in ADHD and adolescent development.

Professional Experience

I work with adolescents ages 13 and older and adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma, substance use, and eating disorders. My clinical focus includes trauma treatment through EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention (ERP), and motivational interviewing. I believe that meaningful change happens through authentic relationships, self-exploration, and aligning life with one's personal values. Inspired by the healing found in both nature and human connection, I encourage clients to cultivate self-forgiveness, embrace personal growth, and build practical skills that support long-term well-being. I see clients throughout the state of Arizona, offering Walk & Talk sessions in person as well as virtual appointments.
